This online Public and Environmental Health MSc course addresses the need for public and environmental health professionals who are able to understand and evaluate the risks posed by the stressors of public and environmental health, through equipping you with the knowledge, expertise and skills needed to take on and enhance your role as a professional in this field of study. Through studying this online Public and Environmental Health MSc course you will be able to critically evaluate a full range of sustainable interventions which are available to eliminate or mitigate stressors thereby protecting human health and promoting wellbeing.

As a UK or international student, this online Public and Environmental Health MSc course will allow you to study the underpinning subjects of public and environmental health, including food safety, occupational health and environmental protection set in a global context that can be applied as you learn. You will also be able to study a range of optional modules such as Global Environmental Health and Public Health Issues and Environmental Pollution and Management Strategies that will allow you to put your knowledge into practice in international context.

Entry requirements

• A minimum of a lower second class (2:2) Honours degree in a pure or applied science (or combination) of a UK university, the CNAA or an overseas equivalent.


• Qualifications and experience considered to be equivalent to the above. All students applying via this route will be assessed and where necessary will to speak to the Academic Lead via a phone call or Skype.

Modules
You will study either Public Health and Wellbeing, Natural and Residential Environments or The Health Impacts of Workplace and Food in your first semester depending on your starting point. Each of these modules will start with a common unit that provides the underpinning knowledge that is needed to understand the context of public and environmental health. (This will only be undertaken by the student in their first module of study). The first module will also allow you to develop your academic skills at Masters level to help you be successful in your studies.
All students will study three core modules:

• Public Health and Wellbeing,
• Natural and Residential Environments and
• The Health Impacts of Workplace and Food

Completion of these three core modules can lead to the award of the PG Certificate in Public and Environmental Health or you can progress to the PG Diploma stage and study a further 3 optional modules from:

• Hazard and Risk Management,
• Waste Management Control,
• Environmental Pollution and Management Strategies
• Global Environmental and Public Health Issues

You can then progress to the final stage and undertake the Independent Scholarly Activity.
