The Master of Public Health can help you to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a public health practitioner who can lead, develop, and evaluate public health projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. This course is ideal if you are aiming towards, or currently working within public health and looking to improve your autonomy and expertise in public health practice.

Who is the Master of Public Health course for?
Anyone working in a multi-disciplinary role in public health including:
  • health care professionals
  • environmental health practitioners
  • health visitors
  • doctors
  • nurses
  • psychologists
Entry requirements
  • A minimum of a lower second class Honours degree (2:2) in a public health related science from a UK university, the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) or an overseas equivalent.

  • Qualifications and experience considered to be equivalent to the above. All students applying via this route will be assessed and where necessary interviewed by the Academic Lead.
English Language Requirement: IELTS 6.5

Modules
To complete this degree you will need to study a total of 60 credits at each award stage, totalling 180 credits to achieve the full MSc.
Postgraduate stage:
For the Postgraduate Certificate you will study two core modules:
  • Essential Public Health
  • Epidemiology and Statistics
You’ll then choose one of the following optional modules below
Postgraduate Diploma stage:
For the Postgraduate Diploma you will then go onto study a further three optional modules from the below:
  • Health Promotion and Behaviour Change
  • Health Economics and Health Information
  • Global Environmental and Public Health Issues
  • Health Protection and Intervention Strategies
Masters Stage:
  • Independent Scholarly Activity – 60 credits
